Attack of the Gourd People!

Betty, my second cousin's 85-year-old mother in law, made these funny little gourd people for everyone this Thanksgiving. I like the boy with the little hat, surrounded by gorgeous girls.

Liz's ROBOTS

damselfly "heart" and wildflower

My bio dorkiness emerges. Clarkia xantiana is a bee pollinated wildflower in southern California.

Gift for the soon to be Courtney and James Harper

Backing helped to keep the designs from puckering. I am not sure how washing machine proof they are.

First attempt at embroidery

Canvas is a great material for learning to embroider.

Drawing Break

When my students were all either jittery or dozy the other day we dropped everything and drew for an hour. Each one is so distinct, it's hard to believe we were all looking at the same chair. Click to zoom in!

Sweet Potage

Colorful and just mushy enough! It's the time of year for root vegetables. These bright beauties caught my eye at the co-op. Yellow carrots, red carrots, orange carrots, purple top turnips, sweet scarlet turnips, parsnips, rutabagas, onions, and red cabbage chopped up and simmered with some garlic, olive oil, and a tiny bit of cayenne in vegetable stock.

Christmas Cards 2

Welcome!

A lovely gal named Georgia recently recommended cataloging these creations before sending them off to far away places. I decided to take her advice. This is a space for projects big and small. I hope you will send me photos/stories about some of yours.

Christmas Parrots

I have been making a grand mess in the kitchen creating Christmas cards. The birdies and cuckoo clocks are beautiful papers from Paper Presentation on W19th. I'm also recycling some illustrations from an old children's book.
